Great White Shark Encounter: Catalina Island

I am a marine biologist and work at a public aquarium. I was freediving Ship Rock, Catalina Island in August 2018 on my day off. I saw this shark two times, the first time the shark was tracking me from behind. I exited the water and warned all of other divers in the area. We waited an hour and a sea lion came in the area and seemed unconcerned. We figured the shark had left and entered the water, I made about three dives and saw the bait scatter. I looked everywhere but never saw it, it came right up to me and passed about three feet away. I estimated the length at 14 feet, a tuna spotting plane also saw one earlier that morning at Avalon Banks and said it was 14 feet, it was likely the same shark.
